16) 9 Books We Have Been Reading to Get Ready for Back to School

For a lot of kids in our area today is the first day back at school, although the Bee doesn't go back until next week. This year for the first time the Bean is going too. While it is only for a few hours a week, I am still pretty nervous about it. Nervous for her because I am not sure she knows whats coming. To get us all ready we have been reading a lot of books about school, so I thought I would share a few of the ones we have enjoyed. What is your favorite back to school books? Do you have any other ways to prepare little ones for the first days of school?

Yoko Learns To Read by Rosemary Wells-  The stories in the Yoko series are about a young girl from Japan and her adventures at school in America.
Little Rabbit Goes to School by Harry Horse - Little Rabbit learns all about why it is important to listen on his first day at pre-school.
Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn- There are a few of these back to school stories that make me a little teary and this is one. Such a great story for a little one feeling nervous about being at school on their own.
Llama Llama Misses Mama by Anna Dewdney- This is the other one that makes me a little teary. Llama llama goes to pre-school for the first time and discovers that school is actually pretty fun, even without mama.
The Berenstein Bears Go To School by Jan and Stan Berenstein- We are big Berenstein Bears fans, Brother and Sister are always favorites and this story about sisters first time at school is no exception.
Curious George's First Day of School by H.A. Rey- Curious George spends his first day at school and is of course a little curious.
I am Too Absolutley Small for School ( Charlie and Lola) by Lauren Child- Lola is a little nervous about starting school fortunatley she has a big brother Charlie
Wemberly Worries by Kevin Henkes- For all those back to school worriers, Wembley helps to put some of those worries at ease.
Best Best Friends by Margaret Chodos-Irvine- We love this book anytime, but it is especially good now as we head back to school and return to playing with lots of friends.
