7) Make Ice Cream

July is National Ice Cream Month and to celebrate we made cookies n' cream ice cream! For the base of our ice cream we followed the Ben and Jerry's sweet cream recipe, because how can you go wrong if you follow the Ben and Jerry's recipe. We actually have a Ben and Jerry's cookbook but if you don't here is the recipe:
Ben & Jerry’s Sweet Cream Base #1:

3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 cup whole milk

Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl untill light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completley blended, about 1 minute more. Pur in the cream and milk and whisk to blend.

This is the second time this summer that we have made ice cream. The first time after our strawberry picking trip (because what else does one do with 20lbs of strawberries) and it is the perfect activity for an almost 3 year old, there is a lot they can do to help. Bee first helped with the whisking, which she loved then she helped pour the mix in the machine and finally just a few minutes before it was done she helped crumble oreo cookies and put them in the ice cream. She also loved watching the ice cream machine spin around and sampling the ice cream when it was done was probably the best part.
