5) Inspiration: Gardens

Last year we grew our first real vegetable garden. We grew all kinds of vegetables and despite the fact that I had no idea what we were doing, our vegetables actually grew. We have spent most of the last week outside and getting our garden ready for this year. The Bee even helped me plant our peas yesterday. So this week my inspirations are all about gardens, plants and flowers.

Stuff to Make: I love this idea for a DIY watering can from an old detergant bottle. It would be a fun way for kids to help with the watering. We also need some garden markers to keep track of all the stuff we are growing. These kid made garden markers are a great idea!

Things to Do: Birdwatching! This post from Cooking With My Kid, includes making birdwatching binoculars, bird watching trail mix and a bird watching guide.

Places to Go: This week we are taking a trip to one of our favorite destinations, Longwood Gardens, in hopes of seeing their tulips in bloom. Two other gardens we are hoping to visit this spring: Sherwood Gardens and Ladew Topiary Gardens.

Books to Read: The spring always makes me want to read some of our favorite Lois Ehlert books: Planting a Rainbow, Eating the Alphabet and Growing Vegetable Soup. Another book I want to check out is 15 Mintes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House and Connect With Your Kids by Rebecca Cohen

What are your spring inspirations?
