14) Play Hopscotch
I feel like most of my posts lately begin with a comment about how poor the weather has been and today is going to be no different. In fact, today it is snowing in Baltimore, in October! This is a first for me and I have lived here a long time. So needless to say the early winter weather has moved our play indoors. However it has not stopped us from playing one of our favorite outdoor games, hopscotch. I wanted to give the girls a chance for some physical play inside so using blue painters tape I layed out a hopscotch board on the floor in the Bee's room. The wood planks in our floor helped me to get the squares even and straight and the whole thing only took me about 10 minutes to do. Before I could even get all the tape down the girls were hopping. The Bee and The Bean don't really care about the real rules of playing hopscotch and are most interested in the hopping. They enjoyed coming up with their own rules, putting the balloon bean bags we made the other day into a square and then hopping in all the squares except the one with the bean bag. For the Bean, hopping is a skill she is just learning so she has really loved this new game. Last night before bedtime, the Bee (always looking for another bedtime stall tactic) had the whole family in there taking turns jumping!
