48) The Rawlings Conservatory and Botanical Garden

We have a few friends that love to visit The Howard Peter Rawlings Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Druid Hill Park, and after our first visit last week, I totally understand why! Located just a little past The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, The Rawlings Conservatory is a beautiful glass building originally built in the 1880's. The conservatory has several rooms including a palm house, desert house and tropical house with a beautiful Koi pond. In addition, they have several seasonal events that change throughout the year. We got to see their Holiday Poinsettia Show and Train Garden which will be on display through the beginning of January. The conservatory is a nice warm treat in the winter and just the right size for visiting with young children. The Bee loved the Koi Pond and The Bean was fascinated by the largest cacti I have ever seen. We will most definitely be visiting again soon! The Conservatory is open Wednesday through Sunday 10-4 and although it is free there is a recommended $5 donation.
